Finally, stitching a sampler!

Good morning. It's a rainy Monday morning here. The weather (what else do we talk about?) has been very windy, even stormy at times lately. We even had some hail in parts of the city! When I go outside I have to double check what weather to dress for! How about you?

Here's my start on a new sampler. Can you guess what design it is?

Well, back at Nashville Market, my eyes were caught on this sampler.
It's called Bird Song. I remembered looking at it and thinking it looked awfully familiar and that's because it reminded me of this beautiful antique sampler I saw a few years ago!  I had loved this antique sampler from afar and thought to myself "maybe I can chart it one day" ...ha ha ha.
So I was really pleased to see the Bird Song chart.   This will be my summer project. I am not stitching so much these days because of all my sewing projects and I also need to go slowly because of my neck issues.
The garden is in bloom. Here are a group of "pinks".

Azalea

Bleeding hearts
Beauty Bush & Primula Auricula
Who doesn't love a cat in a box? This is crazy Julius playing with his tail...in the box!
Then he settled down for a snooze. It says so in the book of Cat Regulations - play, then snooze!
Thanks for stopping by! Have a great week. Hope the sun shines down on you!

Melissa, you are off to a great start on your sampler. That is very cool about it being similar to the antique sampler. What fabric are you using? What a lovely yard you have!

I like your new choice to stitch, it appeals to me too. Julius is so cute and comical. The bleeding hearts are my favourite - they're so different - we had some last year.

Bird Song really does look inspired by the other sampler that you saw some time ago. You've made a great start!

Such cute cat photos! I do love the new sampler, it is going to be so pretty! Here in Seattle area, we started out cloudy but it has turned lovely. The bad news is , I think we already need to water the garden. We had had just little dribbles of rain in weeks. We are in the Olympic rain shadow.

That antique sampler is gorgeous. Bird Song is so similar and a great design. Samplers Not Forgotten? Will have to investigate their offers.

OH Melissa, you always find the most beautiful designs. This one is wonderful and as I have never heard of the designer before I have to check them out. And this lovely design will find its place on my wishlist, of course.

The weather is always a good topic to talk about, lol.But I am happy with it at the moment, not too cold, not too hot, sometimes sunny and some rain in between, just perfect for nature and you can see it when you look out into the garden - there's an explosion of colours outside and everything from the grass to the trees is getting taller and greener. Just wonderful to look at. When I see this I can understand why one of my projects, Spring in the Valley by Stoney creek, uses 17 different shades of green.

This is quite an amazing sampler, dear Melissa. I am happy to see that you are going to stitch on it the next months so I am looking forward to all this wonderful progresses.
Your flowers are so pretty. I love the Bleeding Hearts - I have two in white in my garden (and I will plant pink ones for sure).
Lovely photos of Julius.

Oh wow! I wonder if Bird Song was copied from that antique? Beautiful! I see why you fell in love. Sigh. Your flowers are all gorgeous too! Julius is adorable! I love those pics!

Melissa, how interesting to see the differences - and similarities - between the two samplers. It will be great fun to what your progress.

Tour spring blooms took me back to my childhood! Bleeding hearts used to grow in a shady spot in our backyard. They were my mom's very favorite and she nurtured them like orchids, I can't remember how long it's been since I've seen them.

Oh, Melissa, I love seeing all the pink plants in bloom! Bleeding hearts are so gorgeous but I haven't had good luck in the past with them. But I wonder if there might be a couple of protected spots now that where a bleeding heart would thrive. Oh oh, now you have me thinking about plants, more plants!

Love your new start, but I have no idea what it is. Bird Song really does look like it was inspired by that antique sampler. Julius is a cutie pie!

Bird Song will be a pretty stitch to work on this spring/summer. I am thinking of stitching bird themed charts in May. Love your combination of the beauty bush and auricula. I bought three in February on sale - they are all blooming now and healthy and all are different so I lucked out! Orange Julius looks very content with his world - but isn't that the way it is with cats?

What a great new piece you've chosen for your summer stitch, Melissa. I'm so glad you're able to keep on stitching as long as you don't overdue it, too! Between gardening, sewing and stitching your poor neck probably gets quite a workout :)

Just love seeing your beautiful blooms (especially the bleeding hearts!)... Aww... Julius is looking so cozy there :)

A lovely start to your sampler. Beautiful flowers too. Oh Julius ... how on earth does he squeeze in to that box!

Oh, I loved the Bird Song Sampler, but I especially loved your bleeding hearts. I imagine because I had just finished a small sampler with bleeding hearts cascading over the words "Amazing Grace"

I haven't stitched in a long time, but this sampler you are doing is making me want to start again. Question - does it have DMC colors listed also?

What a beautiful sampler! And those flowers - isn't spring just the best season to be in. I probably say that about all seasons but the flowers truly do make spring the best. :) blessings, marlene
