The Garden mid-May

It's the Victoria Day long weekend here. The forecast was for rain Saturday and Sunday but we got sun instead. This morning I woke to the sound of rain at 5am. Instead of making me cringe, it made me smile. Thirty years ago today I woke to this same sound and told myself not to cry. It was our wedding day and we were having a garden wedding! The rain did stop eventually for our special day but it was too funny to see it repeat like history this morning.

I thought I would start by sharing some photos of our garden of late.

This next one is from a garden in the neighbourhood and we always like to go by and check out the blooms. Just makes me smile!
Here we go with some stitchy gifts I had made awhile ago. First up is a gift for Paula.

Then for my friend Luca.

I have stitched this Stacy Nash design so many times and I love it. I first pick out the backing fabric that I think will suit the recipient, then pick out colours for the front. I really enjoy this process. It`s a great place for me to play with colours!

Daisy said she would rather snooze and dream in colour instead!
I plan to muck about with my paints later and do my much neglected homework for my painting class tomorrow. Later, a class of bubbly to celebrate the anniversary. I hope you have a wonderful week! Thanks for stopping by.

Happy Wedding Anniversary from a new visitor! There is so much beauty and inspiration on this sweet blog of yours. Your embroidered gifts are a delight. The first one almost looks as though you have stitched with seed beads.

I send you warm wishes from France and look forward to visiting you again soon.

Lovely little pieces! I am partial to the P ;). Where did you find these designs? And second, how do you sew the chenille trim so neatly. Just getting started with finishing other than framing and terrified I will maul my piece trying to add trim. Super sweet gifts.

Happy Anniversary! We, too, are celebrating our 30th anniversary today, and were also married on a very wet day, but in Western Australia.

The flowers are beautiful, and your gifts are too.
That's a great idea to pick the fabric first.

Hi Melissa

Congratulations on 30 years of marriage!

The start of your wedding day sounds exactly like mine. I woke up early and it was raining and foggy, and I cried (ours too was a garden wedding). The sun came out in time though.

Beautiful garden photos, and floral stitching!

I think I need to move to the Pacific Northwest to get a garden as pretty as yours, Melissa! Wow--just love the variety and the colors.

I like how you selected the colors for your little gifts based on the backing fabrics--they really look wonderful. I've done the same with ornaments, too (when I think that far ahead :)

Wishing you and your husband at least thirty more happy and healthy years together, my friend... Happy Anniversary!
