Two birds with one post!

I thought it a good day to wish you a Happy Valentine's Day and also post the rest of my finishes.

We shall start with the theme of the day - this is" Love" by Birds of a Feather.

On the back I decided to first glue down a heart with some leftover blue chenille trim then secured it with thread, followed by the little heart charm. Fun!
This is "Love of Myn" by Barbara of Mainely Stitching. I stitched this a few years ago when Barbara was selling this design via PDF. It's so cute. I'm so glad I finally got around to finishing it!

This is "Comme un Oiseau" by Tra La La. I finished it with a pretty purple silk ribbon from Nina's Threads.  She had sent me this piece when I bought some threads from her a couple of years ago. Perfect complement to the purples in this pillow.
The backing is, once again, fabric gifted from my friend Ann of Beadlework

Here is my disaster piece. I sprayed this with walnut ink and I haven't done much else with it. The floss is not colorfast so I wasn't sure what more I should try! The design is Bluebird by Blackbird Designs.
See here, how much nicer it looked before the disaster? Oh well, live and learn. At least it was a small piece and can be re-stitched.
Finally, here is the 'bowl' of pillow finishes:
That's it for this post. Sorry, but now I have to rush off to my yoga class! Have a lovely weekend! Thanks for stopping by!

Such pretty finishes, Melissa, and the BOAF Love is perfect for today! They all look so beautiful piled in your bowl together. I would say my favorite is the Tra La La pillow with the gorgeous purple thread--just beautiful :)

Happy Valentine's Day to you, my friend!

Wow, the bowl full of beauty is fabulous and I especially like the first piece you show, with the sweet heart on the back.

Beautiful -- simply beautiful. I see no disasters here.

Lovely to see your second set of finishes Melissa, it's a pity about the one you sprayed. We do live and learn and at least it wasn't a large piece of work. Your last post inspired me to buy the BBD booklets Summer, Autumn and Winter - I loved the Woodland Berries design when I saw your finished piece. Hope your yoga class is fun, I've never tried it even though my sister loves it and has often encouraged me to give it a go.

What a great looking post! I can't see the color run on the Bluebird design, it just looks aged. I like it! Could you use a brush with more walnut stain or stamp pad ink to blend what you don't like?

You've been keeping busy! Love all the finishes and how great to have a cute little basket full of smalls. Happy Valentine's Day! :)

I agree with Marly, it does look aged. Just to let you know, I've booked my ticket, lol, to come to the finishing school! Just gorgeous and a great encouragement to keep stitching!

What a great collection of wonderful pieces! I loved seeing all of them. They're all beautifully stitched and finished.

Wow! What lovely finishes, all of them. The BBD one just looks aged. That is a look many strive to get. Works for me! Marly has a few posts on how to do more to even a piece...if you are so inclined. But I think they are all very nice. I have to stitch a Tra La La this year... I have two patterns now, finally! Hugs!

Have a wonderful weekend!

Melissa, these are beautiful. Your finishing is lovely.

Maybe it's just me, but I don't think your "disaster" piece looks bad. Maybe it looks worse in real life than in the pic, but to me it just looks like an antique. I like it.

I was thinking the same as Karen commented. Wow your smalls are gorgeous. Fantastic display you have tucked your beautiful handmade treasures. love Annette

What an amazing collection of beautifully stitched and finished smalls Melissa!! I love your basket! Makes me smile :D I really love the Purple ribbon finish! It matches the design perfectly. The redbird walnut issue seems fine to me. Looks aged and I think that's the look you wanted! Hope you had a great yoga class!!

Hugs!

All of your finishes look lovely. Perfect for Valentine's Day.

Wow, what a fabulous bowl of finishes! Each one is perfect. I'm sorry about your BBD that you had an issue with. I think it looks fine in the pictures, but like you said, you can restitch it if you feel like it.
I hope you are having a productive weekend. I'm still working on the wool quilt. I'll be happy to finish it up!
Hugs.

Oh Melissa, I love, love, love that picture with all your little pillows together. I can't get enough looking at it. Such wonderful beauties gathered there. And I also love the way how you place each stitched piece on the fabric that you want to use for the backing.
So sorry that the red thread wasn't colourfast. I also have a piece that I stitched on white fabric but I don't like it at all. But I'm very hesitant to give it a tea or coffee bath because I'm not sure how the thread colours will like it. I have to give it a bit more thinking ...

Wow what a wonderful collection of finished pieces, you put me to shame as I have loads unfinished!

Melissa

It's long time no "see".
Your works are always wonderful and as we have similar taste, you always make me feel like to stitch more and more!
This BoAF's LOVE is my favorite and I remembered that it's my in my wish to stitch list!
I'm sure I will prepare threads and linen to start to stitch this!
Thanks,

Yuko

Oh, so many wonderful finishes! The pillow with the walnut stain looks quite good and I would be pleased if mine tuned out that way.

I am putting the last few stitches into Love Of Myn, it's a pretty design.
