Endings and Beginnings

Here we are, with January ending but a new year is starting in the Chinese calendar. It's the Year of the Horse.
image from Examiner.com
I was searching for an image of a horse to depict and oddly enough found the above under "Horse designs for knitting". I think that was a mistake but I really like this artwork.

I saw a nice post from Edgar this morning about the Chinese New Year which you can see here. So, Kung Hey Fat Choy to you too!

Now onto stitching - I have finished ES Spot Motif sampler by Of Female Worth.  First finish of 2014! Yay!

All the reds in it has just the right feel for Chinese New Year!  As are these pretty tulips!

This morning I'm off to look for a paint colour for this room, which I call my RoMO - Room of My Own.
This is where I stitch (can't sit in a cushy chair because of my back!), do my  yoga/exercise, etc. I am tired of that blue colour which was there when we moved in almost a decade ago. It is time to finally paint it (maybe this summer). In the meantime, I can start checking out colours.  I was also thinking I need a colour that's more complementary to my samplers!

As always, thanks for stopping by and I appreciate reading your comments. Welcome to my new followers!  Enjoy your weekend!

A lovely finish Melissa, the colours are so pretty. I love to see where other stitchers sit and stitch - I don't think I could stitch sitting up straight. Having said that, I'm happy to knit whilst sitting on a straight back chair. I noticed Edgar's post earlier too.

Your sampler finish is stunning! We painted our entire house one year ago. A lot of work, but picking the colors was fun! Have fun looking and choosing!

Congratulations on your beautiful finish! I just love seeing this one all stitched up. Such fun colors. Love your room of your own! I don't think I can stitch long sitting up. Lately I've been sitting in bed (since I'm lazy and cold) but usually stitch in a recliner. Have fun picking a paint color!Happy New Year...I went and ate noodles at lunch! :)

Your sampler finish is just gorgeous. I always feel attracted by samplers that have reds, different kinds of reds if possible. They look so bright and serene, just like yours does. Great!
Have fun picking the perfect colour for your room.

Kung Hey Fat Choy Melissa!!

I adore that sampler! It's so vibrant and beautiful with those reds. I think your little nook it perfect since I don't really have a nook!! A new splash of colour will be great. Those pillows are darling! You have great luck with finding wonderful items in thrift stores. It's been awhile since I've gone thrifting, no time!!

Hugs

Oh, what a glorious finish, Melissa!! I always love the colors in your sampler choices best of all :)

How nice to get a glimpse of your RoMO!! Just look at that bookshelf spilling over with beautiful books. And those samplers, and that pretty rug! I know you'll come home with the perfect color... I need to do some painting in my boys' old rooms, too so if you see any great colors, let me know!

Happy February to you--hope it's filled with lots of ♥♥♥♥♥♥!!

Wow your spot sampler looks gorgeous!
You're like me, you've got this tiny little spot to do your stitching. Just think how nice it would be if you had a whole room to spread out your stitching stuff. Hummmmm.... things to ponder about. ;-)

Congratulations on a beautiful finish.

Happy paint hunting. Sorry can't help much all of my walls are a neutral beige. I can just change accessories then and not bother with the paint colour!

Your sewing room looks like a great space to sit and sew and do some yoga. Good luck finding a paint color. It's not an easy choice is it?

Congratulations on finishing this beautiful sampler. I love all the lovely red threads in this one.

We are just getting to the end of repainting our house, it's only taken us 10 years to make it all the way round every room, lol!
