Red, white, green & gold

Recently I've been feeling very blah. I think I've mentioned that. Partly it's the Fall weather that makes our bodies slow down I think. The other part is all the "life issues" abound for me right now. So it was a delight to see Lee, of Lake Stitcher fame, posting again.

You can go there now and read all her great posts, including why many of us may have stopped writing to our blogs. I wasn't quite there yet but was close to taking a blogging break!

But I'm here today and today I have some stitching to share! Here comes the picture show...

This is "Merry Merry" by Birds of a Feather. I did not stitch the border as I wanted to finish it as a "small", maybe a pinkeep.  I stitched this on 30 count WDW Straw linen.

I did not use the metallic gold floss. I didn't like it so I used WDW Amber. For the "merry Christmas" words in the lower right, I used one strand of Amber and one strand of the Chestnut used for the tree trunks, just for a different effect. I love Santa's smile!

The following is "Dashing" by Birds of a Feather.

The chart called for little beads to be stitched on for snow but I wanted something bigger so stitched in snowflakes instead. This was stitched on 30 count WDW Parchment.

This morning I will have to see what I will stitch next. I was going to stitch another BOAF but I may take a break and stitch something different.

I don't know why but Daisy has been very obliging to the camera of late.  She's saying "I'm a good girl, aren't I mom?" This is because Julius was a very bad cat yesterday and ate part of my baking! No matter what I try to keep him away from people food, somehow in some measure of time, he will find his way when my defences are down! Grrr. He was in the dog house (so to speak) yesterday and he knew it as he hid most of the evening yesterday!

That's me and my words and photos for another post. I have not given up entirely but may be less frequent with posting. I want to thank you for visiting but I also want to thank you for those of you who keep posting to your blogs!

Take care and have a great week!

Oh I love both of your BOF pieces you stitched. Both made me smile:) Love the children riding with Santa.

Saw Lee's video and message. I enjoy getting to share and see others creations with needlework. Otherwise I wouldn't get to and I've learned SOOOO MUCH from other needleworkers thru their blogs. Hope you do continue to blog when you can and not feel any pressure.
Sending you LOVE and HOPE!!!
love Annette

Love the BOAF finishes! I have "Decembre Cat" on my "to do someday" list. Your real life cat is super cute, too!

I love BOAF designs, they have that extra something. Daisy looks so prim sitting there - Poppy loves to steal any kind of cake or biscuit mix so I have to be very wary when baking too. I read Lee's post about blogging and thought that what she said made lots of sense.

Oh, such adorable Christmas finishes, Melissa!! Love your changes so much. I'm not big on beads so I would have done the same with the snowflakes.

Oh, that naughty Julius--I'm sure Daisy is basking in the attention that goes along with being the "good girl" :)

Hope your blah feeling disappears soon--I do think it is partly fall as I'm feeling a bit of the same. Always love to see your posts whenever you feel like writing!

Oh my gosh, I love your BOAFs! Wonderful! Sorry you're feeling blah. I was sorta feeling that way too, but I think I've found a project that cheers me up. Daisy is a pretty girl -- those eyes! At least Julius is smart enough to know he's in the dog house. :D

Oh, Melissa! I can so relate to the blahs. I feel so overwhelmed that I can't pull together a blog post. All I can manage are quick, little updates on Instagram or Facebook. I hope I will feel like blogging again,in do miss it. I absolutely adore your BOAF finishes. They are the most whimsical, fun, happy designs without being cutesy. I have to say I giggled at Julius being in the dog house,
Feel better, GF!

You certainly aren't alone with the blahs this year!! Here's hoping they go away for all of us! I love your finishes ~ they are such whimsical designs! aren't they? Daisy is so pretty! Hugs!

Love your "Merry Merry Christmas" finish.

I'm right up there with you on the blahs Melissa. Although I don't know if it's the blahs or the realization that if I spent less time blogging and worrying about what I'm going to blog about, then I get more accomplished. Sounds strange, but I think that's why I haven't blogged for a while - and may not for a while longer.

But it is always wonderful to see a post from you and your finishes. Those BOAF's are classic and so cute. Hope that your blahs disappear soon!

I hope that the blahs pass soon! So nice to see such a lovely stitch update. These BOAF designs are so cheerful. They look great and make me feel like I want to stay home in my pajamas and stitch!!
Hugs to you and Daisy.

Oh Melissa, these finishes are so so adorable. I love BOAF designs they are just hard to find nowadays. But I have a couple of them in my stash ... and should stitch one of the other now.
I also read Lee's blog entry and yes, there are many reasons for taking a blog break. BUt I always hope that those breaks don't take too long, lol.

This post just makes me want to go and pull out my BOAF Christams charts!!!!! I'd grand plans of stitching more BOAF this year but other than the Santas I haven't managed anything else yet!! I think a lot of us are feeling the blahs right now. I know I am, my days just seem to be filled with other 'stuff' and it's like I have difficulty settling to one thing for any length of time. Keep blogging!! Even if you feel you're not posting as often as you used to it's still a joy to drop by your blog and read whenever you do post!

OMG, I am in BOAF heaven! Love your finishes! I am feeling pretty meh too. Mostly because I am so tired that I don't have the energy to blog and am lucky I get to stitch (very little) but I have stitch group tmrw and a retreat booked for March. I can't wait! Have a nice weekend!

Your stitched BOAF Christmas designs are so cheerful! I'm not crazy about metallic threads either, and your substitution worked out great.

I hear you on the bogging blahs and blahs in general ...

Daisy is such a pretty cat and she looks a little my Miss Kitty!

Melissa!! I have been away too long! I'm glad you haven't stopped posting...don't! Those Santas are adorable and make me feel all cheery and happy!! The weather has indeed made us feel a bit blah, but today is a lovely day :D Daisy is a sweet kitty. Can't believe Julius ate your baking!! Titus has been naughty lately too...asking for food, playing with my wool, etc. Naughty kitties! Hugs

I'm glad you got back to posting, and I love your Santa stitches! I think the snowflakes made a lovely replacement!

Marie said...

I absolutely LOVE the BOAF designs!!!! You did a great job and I do love the changes you made...I am sure that the snowflakes look better than the beads. :-)

Daisy is quite cute. Does she not get into the people food? Wondering what delicious baked product Julius ate?

Reading your post was very timely for me. I haven't been blogging and visiting blogging friends as much as I used to and when I do always discover great new ones like yours. Love your whimsical Santas. ~Roberta
