Waltzing with Matilda - a Happy Dance!

I was hit with a stomach virus a couple of days ago and feeling still drained. However, I am very happy to tell you that I I have finished stitching Matilda Ann Charles!

Here she is in all her prettiness.

As I had mentioned earlier, I had made a mistake with the tree being off by 8 counts to the left. Since the original verse was pretty crowded in the design I decided to replace it with an alphabet. So, this version is not a reproduction of the original. I made a few changes, including the colour palette.

I am very happy with how she has turned out though!

I also mentioned that I won a chart as part of the Scarlet Letter Challenge last month, and Nicola included this sweet threadkeep too.  I love the card with Nicola's "pups". Thank you so much!
The weather has been very unsettled - storms, torrential rain, sunny breaks. Hopefully the sun will return this week to give us a break. Hopefully I will be bouncing around in the garden too. Right now, it's back to the couch for me!

Thanks for visiting. Enjoy the rest of Sunday and have a great week!

I'm very impressed with the way this piece looks now that it's finished. I thought it was pretty when you were stitching it but now that it's complete it's more than that. Hope you feel better soon.

Hi, Melissa,
I just found your blog from Nicola's SL year. I don't know how I have missed you! I just love your Matilda Ann, I have never seen her before now. The soft greens and reds are gorgeous, and the backwards 4 is so charming.

Congratulations on your beautiful finish! I love the change you made which omitted the verse. It's a very nice alternative. I like the less masculine colors you used as well. The original seems dark.

Glad to hear you're feeling better. Stomach viruses always hit me hard - I don't wish them on anyone.

Happy Dance for you Melissa...albeit a sick one. I'm not feeling very well either and had to take the day off of work. So something icky is going around. Anywho, Matilda is stunning and I just love the soft colours. You always choose the prettiest samplers to stitch! Fabulous win too from Nicola. Her pups are so good looking. That card looks hand painted! Take care!!

Oh wow, what a finish! Congratulations! You found a very clever solution for the space that was left after your error with the tree. The alphabet looks absolutely great in the sampler, nobody would ever guess that it replaces a verse. Great job!
