More progress on Sarah's House

How has it that another week has flown by - whoosh, like so?  It seems I can only get stitching in during the weekend, so a little bit more progress on Miss Sarah.

Hopefully, I will be able to finish it by next weekend so I can do the big reveal!

Not much else to report. Just trying to keep my head above water and keep treading! ;-) BTW, I quite enjoyed listening to The Gods of Gotham while I was stitching this - quite interesting to learn about some history of New York City.

Well, that's it for me. Thank you, as always, for taking your time to visit with me. I very much appreciate your comments! Have a great week ahead!

Building Sarah's House - week 3

Hello, all you lovely people! It's another end of Sunday post for me. I really don't want to make this a habit as it's not the best time for my brain to function. It's gearing down instead of gearing up!

First up though, announcing the winners of the giveaways:

#1 - Shepherd's Bush goodies - Cole of Something for Me
#2 - Samplers - Jonette (no blog)

Congratulations!  As to those who didn't win, don't worry, I will have another giveaway next month!

Now, a few photos on my progress on Sarah's house.

I am really happy with the way it's looking. I am looking forward to finishing this one though as there are other projects clamoring in the wings - Stitch me, No, Stitch ME! Do you get that too? ;-)

That's it for this week's post. So far, I'm keeping up with my goal to post weekly. Also, my goal to change my habit of not taking work home mentally is going pretty well. I have to work at it, but it's helped me greatly to focus my attention back elsewhere - like on my stitching!

Have a good week, my friends!

Finally, some traction!

I finally made some headway with Sarah's House today. I haven't had much time to stitch after work during the week and was so discouraged that I almost gave up on it yesterday. Thankfully, I got to stitch most of today and was able to get a lot of the house built. It will be easier to just do the filling in during the week.

I feel much better now! ;-)

I have been enjoying watching everyone's progress on Nicola's Scarlet Year challenge. I have also enjoyed finding a couple of upcoming reproductions from two very talented designers today. Check them out here and here

Remember the January Giveaway will close this Saturday.  Well, short post today as it's time to start winding down for bedtime! Thanks for visiting and have a great week!

January Giveaway

Good Sunday morning!

So, any Resolutions for the year? Did I hear massive groans? Wait, do not exit this blog! I think the same with Resolutions - too big, too scary, and we all feel guilty at failing, etc etc.  So, my thing this year is to get healthier by changing a bad habit or adopting new (positive) ones.

First habit that I've started to change: Leave work @ work, don't take it home! By this, I mean mentally take it home so I'm always thinking about it. This is a very bad habit for me and one that was so ingrained that I didn't really think of it as a habit until someone pointed it out. She said that when she leaves work she completely closes that door and does not think about it at home. Hmmm, so I thought why not try it?

So far, so good! Whenever a work thought pops in my head, which is still happening, I just go "cancel" and click it off. It's a habit that requires my attention to change it. Then I thought why not just focus on changing habits and also adopting new ones as they come up during the year? I decided not to make a list because then I'll just want to do them all at once and that won't help at all!

What about you? Any habits you want to change? Do share if you feel like it.

I didn't get too much stitching time since my last post but I hope to get in a couple of hours today. I can show you what I got framed though, just a little one.

This is "Girl's Best Friend" by Birds of a Feather. I had purchased the pre-made frame last year and it was perfect for this piece!

Now comes the January Giveaway. There are two and each giveaway has 2 "prizes" inside.

The first is Shepherd's Bush. It will contain the Snowman Kit, and the Angel Pie chart. One note about the Kit - it was passed along to me but without the linen. The size is small enough that I'm sure you have a piece in your stash to use. It does contain those cute scissors though!

The second giveaway contains 2 sampler charts

All of these items are un-used. I just thought I needed to lighten my stash and pass them on. I do hope that if you are throwing your name in the hat for the giveaway that you are intending to stitch, rather than sell, these items.

If you would like to enter the giveaway, please let me know:
  1. Which giveaway (#1 or #2) that you want to enter for, or both if you'd like.
  2. Make sure I have a way to contact you via email - either it's on your Blogger profile or you leave me your email address in the comment section.
This will close at the end of day Saturday, January 19.

Thank you for visiting and all your lovely comments. Till next time, stay warm & snug!

Welcoming in the New Year!

It is getting to be late afternoon here on what was a dry, cold, misty and bright day! Essentially it was a celebration NOT to have rain today!

This is from my new calendar. Again, this year, the calendar is from artist Masha D'yans - love her art work.

As to my stitching, third time was the charm and here is my start on Sarah's House by Blackbird Designs.

You can see that I chose to add more colours to the flower buds than what was charted. We shall see how I like the effect as I go.  If you are stitching this one, just know that the border is uneven so I had to do a lot of counting and re-counting!

Tomorrow I will be back to the office. I have had a lovely relaxing break from work and that was just what I needed the most. Hopefully, I will be able to continue stitching and blogging, even if at a slower pace rather than take a 5 month blogging break! Yikes that was not good!

Here is a rose still in bloom in our garden. It is the Leander rose from David Austin.
Thank you for visiting with me. One of the things I will be doing this month is to host a giveaway (multiple items), so watch this space!  Happy 2013!
