Where did it go?

Good morning! I hope you all had a lovely Christmas. Here's what I'd hoped Santa would bring me, of no monetary value - my stitching mojo! Where had it gone?

While I was busy working these past 5 months, I was too tired, especially my eyes, to stitch. I would wander around the house sometimes and look at my framed pieces and wonder - how did I manage to do all these? How did I manage to have the patience to put in all those little x's?

So, yesterday, I decided to start on a small piece (80x80). After a couple of hours I'm thinking "really? I used to enjoy stitching?" *sigh* You get the picture! So now I get why I see many of you sometimes say you have started on too many projects. Perhaps that's what I should do, just start on another one and see if it feels right, then maybe I can find Just-The-Right-Thing!

Meanwhile I can show you some stitching I did in the summer. Somehow, sometime, I can be clever and I made these early for presents. The first one is for Marie as we were Birthday Exchange partners. This is a Blackbird Designs chart.

The second gift is for Glenna. When I saw the bunny freebie, I just had to make it for the Bunny Lady! ;-)  I love that card too.
So, I'm off to see which design will finally entice me to keep stitching!  The cats are all happy they can show themselves off again on the blog, but don't disturb their snoozing!
Thank you for welcoming me back with all the wonderful comments in my last post! I really felt they were my best Christmas present!

I too have been preoccupied with work and little stitching happened as a result. This past week, I tried to settle in and found that I could hardly sit still, like you I wondered how I ever did it and despaired of not being capable of doing the very thing I looked so forward to - too many days, weeks and months being hyper-vigilant and trying to do everything. I managed to work through it, so I hope like me you too will find and settle back in.

I love your naughty or nice finish! I too finished that one and posted a pic today - what a lovely coincidence ;-)))

Keep stitching!

I think it happens to everyone at some point. I know what you mean about seeing large pieces and wondering how we did them. You'll eventually see something that calls to you and the needle!

Oh Melissa, we need to get your mojo back for you!! Yes, you need to find the perfect piece to stitch -- you have to enjoy it and it will get you back to stitching. I've definitely had that starting thing, trying to find the perfect project. It's nicest when you just find it on the first try, but it doesn't always happen. I hope you find your mojo! I love the two gifts you stitched earlier. They're both wonderful! Love seeing the cats too! They always look so contented!

Melissa! Merry Christmas!!! I hope you had a wonderful day with your family. I hear you about the mojo thing. I have all these lovely projects lined up and my mojo is slightly waning. Hopefully both of our mojos will pick up in the new year. Lovely little finishes you stitched! I think stitching smalls is very helpful.

Big Hugs to you!!

I tried to sit and stitch today and just couldn't seem to settle. In the past 2 months I did so much stitching that I think my fingers and brain just need a break. I'm sure our mojos will pick up soon.

I'm sorry you've lost your stitching mojo and hope you get it back soon. You made lovely gifts for your friends.

I know what you mean...my mojo is gone too. I think they're both out kicking up their heels together! :)

Cute finishes Melissa! I know it's hard to concentrate on stitching when work and other things dominate your time. For me it's socializing, work and housesitting. By the time I get home, I just stare off into space. lol Love seeing the Daisy and Julius photos...such pretty cats. I wish you a happy 2013! I can't believe it's almost here!

I hope that your mojo comes back! I cannot stitch when I am busy at work. It is so hard to settle down to stitch.
I love your summer finishes. That card is wonderful.
Happy New Year!!!

Fun projects! I love that bunny pillow--it's perfect for Glenna! I hear you on losing your mojo. Mine was so bad this past year that I honestly thought I might not stitch again. I say throw the blah project to the side and start something new. Stitching is called a hobby for a reason--it's meant to be fun!

The pillows are gorgeous, congratulations. Hope your mojo puts in a reappearance soon

Love the photo of the kitties, very cosy.

Hope you have a good new year

I agree that if you don't enjoy stitching one piece, give something else a try. I flit between lots of things and it seems to work. It also helps if you can move onto another craft such as knitting for a complete change. I find knitting the easiest to pick up and put down. As always, I love seeing your two cats. Happy New Year when it comes Melissa.

I'm sure your mojo will reappear when the time is right, Melissa. It sounds like you have had a lot on your plate over the past few months and maybe just need some complete "down time" right now! I do hope it returns one of these days--I do miss those beautiful samplers of yours!

Your little gifts for Marie and Glenna are adorable--maybe stitching some small things again would help you get back in the mood for stitching again...

Hugs to the kitties!

I think a few of us have lost our stitching mojo for one reason or another this year. Here's hoping for more stitches in 2013! Good to see you back in blog land!

I think we all lose that stitching mojo from time to time. I usually have at least 20 projects I'm working on - so I can normally find something that works for me at the moment. But some nights I pull one after the other out and say it is stupid and throw it down - LOL! Then by the next night, I'm good to go again and they all look lovely - or at least some of them do! If not, they go back in the basket until the time is right!

When I lose my stitching mojo I usually get it back when I start a couple of small designs. Hopefully this will work with you as well. But I know the feeling when all the work of the day is done and then you sit down and pull out your stitching project and after a couple of stitches your eyes get more and more tired and you can do nothing against it. That's not very motivating. BUt I'm sure you will soon see the light at the end of the tunnel.
Both little pieces are just darling.
