Stitching to keep the Wolves at Bay

That inner howling, the blues, the blahs, what have you - they've been knocking at my door. The weather does not help neither. It is cold. Yes, the daffs are out, the cheery cherry blossoms starting to blossom, but it's C-O-L-D when the sun is hiding and it's hiding a lot!

Anyway, thank goodness for my stitching and my books. I am happy to welcome in April too, hoping that warmer weather will come and stay for awhile. I was very happy when I turned over my calendar to April to find this picture! A big gush of COLOUR!

Here comes some stitching...First, Gathering Basket, by Blackbird Designs.

Next, Naughty or Nice by Blackbird Designs, from the Christmas Garden leaflet.

They are such pretty designs with beautiful colours!

Now I want to show you a neat little bookshelf I bought from a charity shop. It was a bit beaten up but had this lovely flower design on each end. I just love it!

When I saw that bookshelf it just took me back to childhood and going to the school library every week. If I ever saw those old fashion card catalog drawers I will probably have to haul them home too!

Lastly here are my birthday buddies. Our birthdays are within days of each other but they come first. They will be a mature 6 years old! My DH said it's like they are going into their twenties in human age. They seem well versed in the Art of Napping!
Thank you for stopping by! Now I will go and "stick a needle in it" as my DH likes to say! ;-)

Enjoy the week. Hope you are having better spring weather!

Hang in there Melissa! I know what you're talking about. Those grey, windy days make me want to stay home stitching too. Great finish!I love your calendar. What kind is it? It's so colorful! The kitties are so cute...if only I could nap all day! Work gets in the way! :)

Lovely finishes! I hope you soon get some warmer weather: we had a sudden surge in temps, followed by a drop - the weather just can't seem to make its mind up :-)

Oh your finishes are just wonderful!! It's awful -- I bought the threads for Gathering Basket and now I don't know where I put them. Knowing me, I've probably lost the chart too. lol! Love that little bookshelf! I can see how it can remind you of going to the library once upon a time. I know what you mean about old card catalogues too. And the weather -- ugh. It was so nice and warm for a while and now it's cold again! Not fair!

Sweet kitties. Your BBDs are great - love their designs. Even though I renamed Gathering Basket to Bird from Hell. But yours looks to be from heaven!

Funny, I was just thinking a few nights ago how much I would LOVE to have a set of old card catalog bureau thingies ... I miss those. The bookshelf you got is wonderful! :D And so is your stitching.

Not seeing the sun definitely compounds the blahs. I hope sunnier days are on the horizon, Melissa. Love your BBD finishes. They really look - Beautiful stitching!
So, when is your b-day? Gracie and I share the same b-date but, uh, I come first. Or, I think I do, anyway.
Love your little bookshelf and it does remind me of book shelves sitting on top of the book cases in the elementary libraries. I do see those card catalogs once in a while but I've yet to see one I can afford.
Feel better, gf.

Love your finishes, and I had fun looking at the book spines in your sweet shelf. I so know what you mean by the inner wolves. They're circling, circling with me too. Related to the temp job/job search in my case, plus I think I'm going through a phase where I am beginning feel my age. Or something. Best wishes. I wish you lived nearby; you could come over and stitch, we'd have tea and cookies and unburden ourselves.

All your little samplers are very pretty. The colors make me smile. Your new bookshelf is wonderful, love the woodwork on the sides. What a nice find. Thank goodness for our stitching projects! They do help us in so many ways. Yep you just push away those inner howls. Blue skies are ahead:)

Lovely stitching. I'm working on a couple of "funky" stitches, but when I'm finished, think I will pull out a BBD, they are so nice to stitch. Isn't our weather just terrible. Those winds, were awful, knocked down part of our fence.

You found a treasure in the little bookcase. It's just the perfect size.
Cute kitties!

Oh how the sun cheers us all up. We had temps approaching 20 degrees last week and today it is snow and 2 degrees. Cats have a knack of knowing how to relax, they look so contented.

Love your kitties, I had two exactly the same colors as yours. Your picture could have been one of mine. I got them about 3 months apart and they grew up together. The yellow one was Mittens and the gray was Whiskers. They aren't with me anymore, but I gave a little gasp when I saw your picture. They are beautiful.

Such pretty BBD finishes, Melissa! You're right, too, that little bookshelf does bring back childhood memories from the classroom. Of course, I had to read the title on it (I do that whenever I see a stack of books in a magazine or anyplace!!).

So your birthday is coming up? I hope you and your two birthday buddies have a very special day! May the warmer weather and sunnier days of April keep those blues at bay...

Very pretty stitching. And yes, hat little bookshelf looks so nice, I think I would have taken it as well. What a great find. And I also took a look at the books on the shelf and now I want to go and read my book instead of going back to my desk and continue working, lol.
