Happy Happy Joy Joy

Ooops - it's been awhile since I've posted and I feel very rusty. You know, the longer you put off posting, the more foreign it seems. 'Tis the season for...

...decorations Red and Green
...and reindeer...
...but most of all - Homecoming! Our boy arrived home safe and sound on Sunday and we're hamming it up for the camera!

It's wonderful to have him back. I've been busy baking not only to feed him, but to give cookies and such away for Christmas gifts.

So, you may wonder what I've been up too these last two months. Well, first I had to spend about 5-6 weeks intensively on getting a professional designation renewed. Then I've been taking time out because of my bad back. Time out from stitching I mean. I still did all the usual things, like working!

However, I have been getting some new help in the way of a new chiropractor who gave me, bit by bit, small amounts of "exercises" to do.  Along with some acupuncture treatments, all these things have helped me tremendously.  So, three weeks ago, I decided to get back to stitching but with a small sampler.  Here is Margaret Harris from one of the Blackbird Design booklets.

See the difference between the white flower on the left vs the one on the right? The left one is very faint and is the called for BS Vanilla Pudding. The one on the right is BS Icing which is brighter and the one I will now use instead. The very faint flower on the inside right border is using BS Scarecrow. I'm afraid it will have to come out. It's so faint you can hardly see it. So, I can see substitutions being the norm here!

I have to go slow with my stitching as just 1/2 hr of stitching makes my back start whining! Slowly, slowly I will go!

And here is one last framed piece to show you.
This is my first day off from work so lots of stuff to do before Christmas Eve as I am hosting the dinner! I will be covered with flour shortly!

Thank you for visiting with me now and all through this year. I wish you and yours a very Merry Christmas!

PS - Dear Santa: I know All-I-want-for-Christmas I already got with my boy being home safe and sound...but you know, if you happen to have a spare i-Pad at the bottom of your sack, I've been a very good girl this year! ;-)

Melissa, I was just thinking of you the other day and wondering how you were doing. Sorry to hear about your back. Ugh. Hope it gets better. But how wonderful to have your boy home again! He's so talllll!!! lol! I love the pic of you two together. It must be so nice to have him home! As for the iPad -- I hope you get one. I want an iPhone for Christmas. lol!

Oh, and nice framed piece! Bummer about so many colors not showing up on your fabric for the BBD piece. I so hate when that happens.

Have a wonderful Christmas!!! And a happy, healthy New Year as well.

I'm so happy your son is home with you for Christmas! What more could a mother ask for...other than a little iPad of course. I hope you find one under your tree, because I am absolutely in love with mine! Playing with it has seriously cut into my stitching/knitting/quilting time!

Merry Christmas, Melissa!

I have that reindeer piece too, though I haven't started it yet.
Would you mind telling me where you get your framing done? I live just north of you, in Surrey. Thank-you so much!

So sorry that your back is bothering you so - not a fun thing to deal with. I hope you continue to find relief!
Love your framed deer - the frame is perfect, as is the frame on your other piece!
What a handsome boy you have - and so tall! I can tell how happy you are just by the size of the smile on your face!
Merry Christmas!

I'm so happy for you, that your son arrived home safe and sound! :) I'm sure you all must be so thrilled to be back together. :)

I'm sorry to hear that your back has given you so much trouble. I hope the exercises and help from the chiro will make a big change.

Great job on the framing! I just love that sampler. Nice start on the BBD, too. I couldn't believe the difference between Icing & Vanilla Pudding. I might just have to invest in a skein of Icing.

Happy Christmas!

Look at that joy on your face, Melissa--I think you got the best present ever with your son coming home! Does he seem to have grown six inches!!

I'm so sorry to hear about your back pain and am glad to hear that the acupuncture treatments might just be working... I love your new start on Margaret Harris--see what you mean about the flower colors.

Ah--another beautifully framed sampler--just lovely.

Enjoy your Christmas day and I do hope that Santa can dig an I-pad out of his sack for good little girls like you (and me, too!!)...
