My first B-A-P!

Finally, my first BAP. It's 293 x 304 and fits my largest scroll frame with a couple of inches to spare. (whisper - Joy, it has 12 pages!) Here's a peek at my new start.

It's the Mary Gibson's 1824 Sampler from the Haselmere Museum.  I decided to stitch it on WDW "Straw" 35 ct linen. I happen to have a lovely piece hanging around and decided to use it. It's much more gold than what shows up in the above photos. I am also using silk from my stash and this trial-and error approach has caused a lot of frogging  when I am trying out colours to use! A bit frustrating and time consuming but I am happy now how things are looking.

As you can see, it's gonna to take me quite awhile to finish this one! Although I am usually a one project kinda gal, I may be taking breaks from it to do smaller pieces. We shall see how my patience holds up!

Next up, I asked KarenV to finish one of my small pieces for me. The next two are her photos. She did a wonderful job and I just love it! Thanks Karen!

More framing! Actually, this next one is a re-use of an old frame. I had something stitched in aida, and when I saw that this Prairie Schooler piece fitted so well, I got my framer to do the switcheroo for me. Recycle and Reuse!
It's the last day of the Labour Day long weekend here. The weather is gorgeous and it has the beginnings of that lovely Fall nip in the air though still warm during the day. The kiddies, little & big, will be starting the school year tomorrow. Usually we see some traffic chaos the first two weeks of the month until people settle into a routine. Drive safely and enjoy the week!

Thank you for your visits and your comments!

What a great post! I checked out where to purchase that sampler and saw that it's a download - I want it. The other one offered is wonderful too. That finishing job is perfect and the trim matches so well. What luck that the PS fits in that great frame!

Love the piece that Karen finished for you. Both the stitching and finishing is wonderful. And your frame is just perfect for your piece!!

Love your BAP--I had thought about buying it when I saw it, because it's so pretty, but I have to have SOME self-control, so I'll stitch it vicariously through you! Love that frame--it's perfect. And didn't Karen do a wonderful job of finishing!

Ooooh, I love Mary on the Straw! I am too many WIPs away from starting Mary, but keep obsessing about the linen I'll use. I have to remember the Straw, especially since I have some in the stash. Your silk choices look great!

Love the PS frame switcheroo--it couldn't fit in there more perfectly if you tried.

Karen did a fabulous job on the finishing. She has such a wonderful knack for choosing just the right trim for a piece!

Your BAP looks great. Do you always start in the bottom corner? I start top, left. I don't know why, lol.
The flatfold finish is great, such a sweet design.
Love the PS too!

Oh, Melissa! Your post makes me want to run straight to my stitching and stitch with my fingers and toes as fast as I can (and then send it all to Karen for finishing)! GORGEOUS!!!!

I am so happy to see you stitching Mary! I just started another sampler last week which is really not doing it for me so I think I'm going to start Mary instead. I love, love, love the colors in the picture of it but do the colors listed match the pic? They sure didn't on Marianne Wenn! I am all for converting colors as I go which I will likely do as well. I will start at the top and maybe we'll meet in the middle!
Love your flatfold finish and the PS piece in its "new" frame looks wonderful!

Ooh, this is a massive BAP!! I love the colours your chose Melissa and I see what you mean about the enormity of the project. That scroll is looong! Karen V did an amazing job on finishing. I might have to enlist her in the future because I get a bit lazy with finishing myself. Your Prairie Schooler design looks fantastic in that frame!! Great idea to recycle and change things around!

Beautiful work as usual! Am rather new to the cross stitch blogs--pardon my ignorance, but what is B-A-P? I love Prairie Schooler, and recognized the third picture, but what is the designer of the reindeer? That would make a pretty Christmas ornament...

I love your start on Mary Gibson! I broke down and put some stitches in on Monday. I'd been trying to hold off on a new start of a large project, but seeing so many people in blogland post about her, I couldn't wait. It will be nice to follow everyone's progress.
