This is what Today looks like!

Weather-wise, this is pretty much our Spring! This is a page from my calendar. I groaned when I turned the calendar over on May 1 as this picture is a fairly accurate depiction of our Spring weather!
Every time we venture out to get going on the garden, rain soon visits! Oh well.  It gives more time to indoor pursuits such as stitching!

A new start - Ann Taylor by Heartstring Samplery. This is an oldie but goodie. I'm destined to stitch a lot of Beth's designs I think!

I am stitching with the recommended DMC floss on 36 count PTP Doubloon linen.  I am stitching this with 1 strand over 2.

The Doubloon linen is a new colour and it is absolutely perfect for this piece. At first I had a piece of ready prepared linen that was the right size, but it was a pale grey. I decided to check around my stash and I'm so glad I did because this colour combination is just wonderful. The photos don't do it justice!

Now I have to show you more wonderful stitching from my friend Nicole in Belgium. You will recognize Frances Eden of course! I love sharing her work with you!

I have been catching my breath the last week or so. I lost my work due to budget cutbacks about the same time my boy left home.  It's not actually a bad thing in the short term for me to have a break, just hoping it won't be a long one!

Thank you so much for visiting and thank you once again for your kind words and support!  They mean a great deal to me! I will leave you these lovely red and white tulips with my thanks!

Until next time...Happy Stitching!

Beautiful start Melissa. Thx kindly for mentioning the maker/color, looks like a beauty. I adore PTP linen and made note of the color.

Since monitors can be so varied, am wondering what overall color Doubloon looks like to you?

Aren't Beth's designs the best? I have Ann Taylor in the stash patiently waiting her turn her in the hoop! Beautiful start!

Sorry about the work situation, Melissa. Here's hoping something new pops up soon!

Oooooh, but I love your new start! Gorgeous linen, too. PTP? Why have I never heard of that? And, more importantly, why don't I have any in my stash?

Ann is looking beautiful! I've never seen her anywhere before, and now I'd love to add her on my wish list :) Your friend's Frances looks very nice, too...

Ann is looking great! Wonderful start and Nicole's Frances is looking great as well.

I think we're going to be getting your rain soon. Gloomy grey today and forecast says rainy weekend! Perfect weather for stitching though.

I hope your work situation gets resolved soon.

Great start and just love the fabric. Your weather picture describes ours so well. I'm so sick of all this rain.

Melissa, I hadn't noticed Ann Taylor before, but thanks to you, I have now! And the Doubloon looks like something I need to get my hands on. I've been out of work since December, and I'm beginning to finally go on some promising interviews (I didn't apply for much until late March so that I could have the wintery months off, so I've really only been looking hard for about 6 weeks), so allowing for the fact that you have a little different economy, my feeling is that things are picking up and while it may take a little longer to find a job, you WILL find a job. Best of luck that you find something you really like! (I loved having the time for stitching and projects around the house, but I worried too, and now I feel much better.)

That Doubloon linen looks wonderful Melissa! I was only thinking the other day that I need to get myself some of that, it looks like just my kind of colour. The threads of Ann Taylor look fabulous on it :)

Nicole's Frances Eden looks beautiful too, those are gorgeous colours.

Sorry about your job...and the weather :( I hope something new comes along for you very soon.

Oh, what a lovely start...great colors! Your friend's stitching is equally lovely.

Being without work and a child leaving home at the same time can be rough. I've been without work for almost a year with a retired husband...not so bad, just trying some days. I am thankful for my stash...guilt free shopping.

Happy Stitching!

I can relate to the work situation Melissa, things are tough at the moment. I hope you turn a corner soon. I love your new stitch and can I ask if you know what design was used for the cheeky little pincushion in Nicole's lovely photos.

You always pick the most beautiful pieces to stitch! I want to stitch everything you stitch. lol! I love the colors of Ann, and the doubloon fabric is fantastic for it! Your friend's Frances looks great too. I hope work pops up for you soon. Hope your son is doing well in Germany too.

We are getting horrible wind too, but i can't complain.
Love your new stitchery, always such beautiful work. I need to see if I can find a magnifying light that works for me, so I can do cross stitch on smaller counts.

Oh what a charming and timeless illustration! It almost makes the rotten spring weather a good thing, LOL. I love your stitching - gorgeous colors! And that linen - YUM!!!

So sorry to hear about your May weather, Melissa! Our April was like that--day after day of rainy, gray skies. But, the sun has shown a few days in a row here--what a spirit lifter.

Your Ann Taylor start is looking great--the fabric is spectacular...And I like the soft effect that the 1 over 2 stitching is giving it...

Nicole does wonderful work--I'm always happy when she emails me with a new photo :)

Hope your son is doing well in Germany--we'll be there next week, too! Maybe you can take advantage of the break from work and do something special just for you!

Hi Melissa.
What a beautiful project to work on! Hello to Daisy and Julus, they look so comfortable on the window ledge.

Take care.

Oh wow, your new start from Heartstring is gorgeous; and I like your choice for the linen very much!

Oh, I love your new start!! That linen colour looks fabulous. What wonderful stitching from Nicole too. I hope that with those two major changes recently that you're doing okay and that something works out in the job area. We had an early Spring this year, most of April was unbelieveable. Now we're into May? Rain at some point every day. Oh well, all that nice weather couldn't last.

Ann is looking beautiful. I really love the choice of linen colour. It seems to go very nicely with this design.

Your friend Nicole's Frances Eden is looking great.

It's strange - you are nearly drowning in the rain whereas we desperately need some. April and May have been much too dry over here. But of course we were enjoying the nice and warm weather, lol.
Your new start looks awesome, a great sampler. That's the good side of the bad weather that you have, lol.
Enjoy your break from work, but hopefully you'll get a new job after a while.

I need to stop collecting Beth's designs and start stitching them! I love your progress on this sampler--and the linen color is perfect! I've never seen that one before so have to write it down.

Nicole definitely needs to do a blog--she does beautifl work!

I'm so sorry to hear your job was cut, but hopefully this door is closing so that an even better one can open for you. Gorgeous tulips!

Love that Ann Taylor. Your calendar picture is a great representation of our spring so far in Maine. I'm getting soggy! Thank goodness for indoor stitching.
And thanks for stopping by my blog. I've visited here many times but am just now commenting - your work is lovely!

Loving this new work and also the ones in your last post; I hear you about the Belle Soie they are wonderful but are not a stitching panacea!

I hope that your time off work will be an enjoyable break of appropriate length! :D
