Pictures Happiness

While dealing with the neck/back issues and being generally miserable, lo and behold, a phone call from the framer's just perked me right up. I don't know about you but I always wonder at my choice of frames while I wait for the pieces to be picked up. This time, I was just jumping with H-A-P-P-I-N-E-S-S!

I shall start quietly and let the crescendo build up! First is a very appropriate piece for the Christmas season.
Tis the Season
by Blackbird Designs

The next piece was framed in quite a different way than I had intended. The original in the magazine was framed in black and many of you have done the same and they look beautiful! When I went to my framer's and tried to find a black frame, she gave me the "are you sure?" look so we played with other frames and I am so happy with what we came up with.

I love how the roses on the frame echoes the roses in the sampler! Love it!

Next is my framer's favourite and I must admit we took a long time trying to find the right frame and when we did, we knew it instantly!

Oh my oh my, I just love the frame. It's like an old piece of tin, if you know what I mean.

Last, my absolute favourite piece of all time. If a piece of stitching was to represent me, this is it! I have wanted to stitch this piece since it was first published, which was probably 10, maybe even 15 years ago? I was always intimidated by the size but my confidence level has slowly increased in the last 2 years and I'm so glad I was able to finish it this year!
A Very Fine Sampler
by Birds of a Feather
I love it, love it, love it! I can sit and just stare at it and it makes me feel happy!  Here it is hung up and will be the centerpiece of a new sampler wall that I will complete in 2011.

I will sign off now. I'm careful about how much time I spent on the computer and stitching. Right now my shoulders are yelling at me to quit it! ;-)
Thanks so much for visiting and your kind words about my health. I will be back with another short post before Christmas. I do have a new small finish to show! Take care and stay healthy during all the pre-Christmas rush!

Lovely: I cant even find a framer who does not believe if a glue gun is not involved, then it isnt framing. Your choices are perfect and they look lovely.

What lovely stitched pieces, you should be proud of your handwork. I know what you mean about aches and pains - I've been finishing some little knitted gifts and I'm suffering for it.

Wow, beautiful framing! They look fantastic. I think my favorite are the BBD BOAF and the BOAF. I know what you mean about the BOAF. I have this in my stash and have forgotten about it. I had really wanted to start them this year and got distracted.

Hope your neck/back feels better soon.

Merry Christmas!

Your pieces look so beautiful in the frames.

You really hit the jackpot! These are all beautiful. Wonderful choices of projects and framing to set them off just right.

Oh, Melissa, each and every one is exquisite! I really must buy that BBD cardinal (maybe I'll hint at it for Christmas or my birthday in January!)--it is so lovely. You're lucky to have a framer who does such nice work. I'm really nervous about what to do with Christmas at HRH when I'm done. I've never had anything professionally framed, but I know this one has to be...

Merry, Merry Christmas :)

All of the pieces are lovely, but Tis the Season is by far my favorite. Your stitching is just beautiful and the frame sets the piece off so nicely.

Merry Christmas! Hope you feel better soon.

Well done on all your framing, Melissa! It's such a joy to read of the pleasure you've got from just looking at your pieces hung on the wall. That's what all those hours of stitching was meant for.

Gosh Melissa, sorry to hear that you're still having pain. Hope that goes away soon. Now to your
BEAUTIFUL framed pieces. What eye candy they all are. I admit that I wouldn't have thought of a frame like that for Isabella Johnstone, but it looks great. It softens the piece, plus it will look nice with the others.
Great job on all of them.
Merry Christmas!

Oh my poor, achey friend! I'm sorry your neck and back are hurting = I think that is the WORST pain. I hope you're feeling better soon.

Now, about that framing! WoW! I am so in awe of what you've done and the frames you've picked that I'm speechless. The mouldings are all perfect for each piece - I love them ALL! I do have to tell you that right after you showed your "A Very Fine Sampler" finish, I found the chart and ordered it on ebay. Now my question is this - did you use the called for fibers and fabric? I could go back and look thru your posts but hey, I'm lazy..... Love it. The other one that I really adore is Isabella Johnstone - love the colors - love the cow - really love the frame you picked. You are such an inspiration - I hope you don't get sick of me stalking and copying all you do! You do it - I want to do it.
Merry Christmas, my friend - feel better soon!

Great choice of frames!

I love the look of A Very Fine Sampler. Still think it looks like an old parchment.

Your framing choices are superb. It must have cost you a fortune to have 4 pieces framed at the same time.

Hi Melissa love the frames that you have picked for your samplers. Isabella looks wonderful. It is such a lovely sampler isn't it. I enjoy looking at mine.

Isn't having problems with your neck and back a pain. I also have similar problems and after awhile sitting with my head in the same position, I always feel as if it is going to fall off.

Have a wonderful Christmas and a Happy New Year. - Sandra.

Melissa your framed pieces are all beautiful. A friend sent me to look at your "Tis the Season" because I was disappointed with the framing on mine and I have discovered your lovely blog. I will be returning to see more of your work. I wish you a happy and pain free 2011.
