Fall is in the Air!

It seems overnight the weather has cooled and there is a hint of Fall in the air. The days are still bright, book-ended by it being darker in the mornings and an earlier "lights out" in the evenings. I like this slow transition. You know the cold, dark months are coming but you can still enjoy the bright days. It also means it's easier to stitch with a drop in temperature! I think heat just fogs my brain. (That's my excuse and I'm sticking with it!)

I have one finished piece to show you.

Salina Dunwoody
by Sheepish Designs
AVAS silks on 35 ct WDW Parchment

One thing I've learned with the older Sheepish Antiques designs - there are mistakes so expect them and double check the chart against the photo.  After you accept that then it's not so bad. I did end up changing the colours around a bit to suit myself.  I really like this one and I'm definitely hooked on her designs!  So, naturally, the next project is...

Betsy!  I'm stitching on 36 ct Straw but using the HDF silks conversion. While I have enjoyed stitching with HDF silks in the past, I regret getting this conversion. Others have warned me that sometimes the conversions don't work out very well. In this case, the colours of the border vine, leaves, stem should be dark, medium and light green. Well, they are blue-y grey. It didn't dawn on me until I had stitched quite a bit (remember, I blame the heat?) and then I pondered what to do. Since I did not have anything in my HDF stash close to those colours I decided just to leave it.

Overall, the colours are much softer than what shows on the chart photo. Oh well. It is a fun design to stitch.  (Sorry for the bad photo by the way!)

Not much else to report. September is just around the corner - how insane is that? I leave you with a photo of my kitties while we still had our heat a couple of weeks ago. It was hilarous how they were trying to stick their heads out of the window to  get some air!
Oh, to be able to just chill out completely like these cats!
Thank you for your visit! I really appreciate your stopping by and reading your comments just make my day! Enjoy your Sunday and the rest of ...August! Take care!

It looks like your stitching mojo has returned! Love your Salina finish and your new start is equally lovely!

It's still getting into the 90's during the day here, but I love the coolness in the mornings!

What a great finish Melissa! I just love it. There is just something about those old SD designs that get me every time, and I love your stitching and the fabric. And am really loving Betsy. I pulled her out a while ago with the hopes of stitching her, but as usual, life has gotten in the way. Just love those colors.

And too funny with the cats - there are some days I'd like to lay with my head in the window too. They look so comfortable.

Great finish. I think your cats have the right idea. I'm liking the cooler weather.

Salina looks great Melissa, congratulations! I love the greens on that yellowish fabric - all the colours work together so well :) Your start on Betsy is nice too, despite the colour "issues" (such as they are). Your cats look so cute, lying in almost the exact same position like that. Ours do that often too! :)

Betsy is very pretty. I love the red flower. The border looks good. I think it goes well with the colours in the design.

Love your Salina! It's beautiful! Betsy is pretty also, I wouldn't stress about the blue-grey border, it looks just fine. And your kitties! Loved the pic. Your striped grey kitty resembles my Frankie! They could be twins!

Enjoy your cool weather while it lasts, Melissa--we had a few cool days, but the next week is supposed to be 90 degrees--way too warm for the end of August!

Your Salina finish and Betsy WIP are both lovely. Actually, I love the greyish-blue border, but then I am a blue lover. I think it will look beautiful to you when you're all finished...

Always love seeing the kitty photos--they look so peaceful there on your pretty window seat!

Seriously...thank goodness it cooled down. The heatwave we had down here was unbearable. But then we are wimps about the weather! lol

Your Salina finish looks fantastic! And I like Betsy...the soft colors are relaxing.

The kitties looks so cute all sprawled out. :)

Awesome finish on Salina!!! Beautiful. :)

Yes!!! It has been gorgeous here the past week as well - even a bit chilly in the mornings. It was hot as Hades again today, but last week gave me a taste, and I'm tellin' ya... I'm ready to break out the fall scented candles, buy some gourds and get Autumn going. :)

Have a great week!

Salina looks wonderful! Enjoy stitching on Betsey, she's one of my favourites. Those kitties look so comfortable lying there trying to get some cool air.

I just love that picture of your kitties chilling out in front of the window. So precious!

Another finish too, Melissa! Simply an amazing effort and another creation to be proud of. I love Betsy also. First impression of it was that I liked the different colours in it. Certainly a change - for the best. Stick with it. :)

(I know I owe you an email. I'm getting very lazy lately. Do forgive me.)

Oh Melissa, Salina is wonderful. Congratulations. I love Sheepish Designs very much and quite obviously you do, too. So no surprise that you started just the next SD. Betsy is one of her most beautiful pieces.

I love Salina Dunwoody! Beautiful! I don't think the hue on the vine is anything to worry about. Of all the vines in my yard, no two are the same color. Some are grey, some are green, some are almost brown. I think it adds character to the piece.

Gorgeous finish! Congrats.

Your finish is fabulous! I don't own one of Sheepish designs charts. Isn't that crazy? I guess her style didn't turn me on, when she was designing. Now I love it!
Love the new start too.
Funny picture of the kitty's, enjoying the windows and fresh air!
