Sunshine on my shoulders...

 ... makes me happy!

I had a lovely birthday weekend - thank you for your well wishes. The best present has to be the fact that we've had sunshine! Even if it was sometimes a bit overcast, it was dry and it was not windy (as in stormy).  You could see it in people's faces and the spring in their steps!

My guys brought me some lovely orchids.

Miss Jane sent me a wonderful present!

Look at those wonderful scissors! And she had tied it with a lovely ribbon, and the card is so cute! Thank you so much, Jane! I love it! Such a treat!

I stitched a bit more on the Blackbird Designs sampler, which I keep referring to as the Honeysuckle Manor sampler because I can't remember the proper name!

At first I thought I would stitch the entire border, then do the pieces in the middle. But I caved in. Repeating the flowers just got a bit too monotonous for me! Variety is the spice of life, right? ;-)

Before I end this post, I want to send you here to see a really cute (and short) video. If you're a knitter you'll doubly love it.  You can also see "the making of" as well.

I don't have much to say, so I will close now with a photo of this very shy tulip - isn't she cute? It's like she's curled up one petal like a hand over her face!

Thank you again for all your comments. I always enjoy reading them and they really make it worthwhile to keep blogging!  Take care, my friends! Have a great week!

Happy belated birthday, Melissa! The orchids are so, so luscious--your guys "did good." And so did Jane--those scissors are really special :)

I couldn't have stitched the entire border first either--have to mix it up when I stitch, too. Your sampler is coming along so well...

Firstly can I say your photos are looking wonderful, Melissa. Really pleasing to the eye. Great job!

I'm so happy that you had a lovely birthday weekend and the sun shined on your celebrations. Just as happy that you love those scissors. Now you can get out your Stacy Nash patterns or anything else primitive you have in your stash, and look the part.

Your BBD sampler is so lovely. Don't blame you for having a break from the border. Repetition can be a bit draining on the brain.

What beautiful flowers too. It's nice to feel special every now and then. Happy birthday again, my friend!

My dear Melissa, I hope you had a wonderful b-day. I apologize for being late in my wishes. Cool scissors, I have a pair just like them.
Your BB piece is going to be wonderful with the others on your wall.
I mailed your set, and I hope you like everything.

Beautiful flowers! And a wonderful present from Jane! Your BBD piece is looking wonderful, but you're like me - just can't get into continuous border stitching - it makes my skin itch! But it's looking wonderful.

Melissa,

Happy Belated Birthday! Your guys did good on the flowers and your stitching is beautiful! I'd have taken a break from the border as well!

Love the BBD you are doing - I can't remember the name either sorry.. If nobody else has told you what it pictured on the card from Jane is a British Post Box that you find in the street here. So glad you had a nice birthday.

Orchids = Gorgeous!! Great progress on your BBD as well... ygg!

That tulip and your description made me lol! It reminds me of my daughter when she would get her bottle as a baby... as soon as it was in her mouth, her "free" (I used to tuck her other arm/ hand behind my waist) hand would immediately be placed on her forehead... just like this shy tulip. :)

Gosh, what a lovely post, Melissa! Nice to hear I'm in good company when I consider a sunny day to be the best gift of all. ;)

Your "Honeysuckle Manor" looks GREAT!

Happy birthday Melissa. Love the flowers! Thansk for the links to that amazing video. My half blind half deaf elderly Mother knits and was really interested to see that clip. She sends her greetings and thanks to you too.

Happy belated birthday! I am glad that you had a good weekend. The flowers and scissors are lovely. :) I love that sampler from Honeysuckle Manor (I can never think of the proper name for it either. LOL!). I want to eventually stitch everything in that book!

Looks like you a good birthday! Beautiful flowers. I love the color!

I understand completely about caving! What's the point if your stitching is going to bore you to tears?! Even though I always think I'm going to stitch the border, I find I too end up breaking it.

I posted the Little Red R NPI conversion.

Have a good weekend.
