Five Lollipop Flowers

Hello there, my friends! Finally, I have finished stitching Birds of a Feather! This one seemed to have taken me longer than ever. Blame the stitcher, not the design!

It just dawned on me that I could have stitched those five lollipop flowers in the colours of the Olympic rings! Wouldn't that have been appropriate for what's going on right now?! ...no, I was just kidding!

Here she is, all finished!

 Birds of a Feather
by Blackbird Designs
Fibers: NPI silks and 35 ct Parchment (WDW)

I substituted  a couple floss colours so that they are slightly more subdued.  I used 573 for 534 (red) and 523 for 525 (blue). Near the end I just changed colours here and there just because I felt like it! There are some mistakes in the charting so you will need to check against the photo to decide what colour to use sometimes.

I am very happy to have gotten this done today as tomorrow Jane and I are starting our SAL on Be Kind and Be True.  I am still mucking about trying to decide on the linen to use so we shall see what I end up with! I do so love the WDW Parchment but if I use it too often it will get boring!

On another happy note, I have finished stitching both exchanges. I have finished the finishing for one, and hopefully will get the other finished done this week as well.  I always feel like celebrating when I've made deadlines! (Annemarie, are you twitching yet?)

So, now, do you have a funny "waiting room" feeling? You know, it's really quiet, and everyone keeps flipping the magazine pages, and you are waiting to see who...what's all coming out from the Nashville Market! You know a lot of the shopkeepers have closed shop and are en route to Nashville today so no word for, hmmm, at least two days? Argh!  For those in the US near a LNS at least you can go and shop next week!  For the rest of us, we'll just have to wait patiently online to see the photos and news as they are posted. *sigh* Yup, waiting room syndrome. Twiddling of one's thumbs. Legs doing that impatient jig. Constantly checking websites for updates. Sad, isn't it? ;-)

Have you got a must-have list from the Market already? I'm thinking definitely the Blackbird design book, the latest Goode Huswife book, and...?

Thank you for stopping by and thank you for your comments. It makes me feel that I have good reason for keeping this blog going! Take care!

(whisper - I can't believe it but the cherry trees have started blooming this week!)

Your BOAF is BEAUTIFUL!!! Congrats on your finish!! I think you are going to love stitching BK&BT. Fun! I am looking forward to seeing the market releases too. But I will be right there with you checking them out online. No LNS very close to me, unfortunately. I will have waiting room syndrome right along with you.

Your BOAF is beautiful, I am so happy for you that you finished it.

How fun to have a sal with Jane.

Enjoy your evening.

Your BOAF looks great. I noticed my first Cherry Tree this morning, couldn't believe it, but then again I can't believe the weather we are having.

Your BoaF finish is just wonderful, Melissa! I see why you like the color of that fabric so much, too - really rich!

Good for you for finishing your exchange pieces. I participated in an exchange one time and was so stressed out about it, I'll never do it again.

The BBD book is, I think, a must have - I really like the look of the sampler on the front page. pretty, pretty colors!

Cherry trees blooming! Oh how wonderful! I'm really enjoying the Olympics and all the shots of beautiful Vancouver!

Woo!!! Love the BBD finish! You get the gold in Olympic stitching! lol

I am eager to see what is coming out at market and am lucky to have a LNS nearby but can you believe I have steady plans for the next three weekends?! Boo...not to mention Uncle Sam and my dilapitated car are punishing me by taking my stash money.

I need to find a shop around here, or i will have to head north when it warms up. I know there are some good ones in Maine.

We're getting snow right now as I type, lol ;)

Your finish is wonderful Mellissa. Such bright and beautiful colors in it!

Cherry blossoms - oh my goodness. I did see a picture of that and was so surprised. It seems like we've been in one continuous cold snap for what seems like forever!

No real "must have" for me yet from Market - maybe the BBD book, although I'd like to look through it before I buy it. I'm really trying to be good, so I'm not looking too much!

Congrats! It's beautiful!
Oh you Vancouverites and your "winters" LOL~

Oh there you go, ruining a perfectly lovely post by rubbing us snow bound folks' noses in your cherry blooming nonsense. Sheesh. JUST kidding, of course. :)

Wonderful BOAF finish!! Love it love it,. love it!

I know what you mean re: the waiting, lol! I've been checking websites a few times a day to see if anything new has been announced.

My picks so far are... def. the new Plum Street Samplers, maybe Autumn at HRH, and there are a few others (which, b/c I'm getting old and forgetful) I can't remember off the top of my head right now that are definite maybes.

Can't wait to see your exchange pieces!

Your finish looks fantastic!
I can't believe your Cherry trees are bloomin' - I'm green with envy!
There are so many things coming out at market that I would like to have that it is making my head spin!

The cherry trees are blooming? I can not believe that so soon.
We still have snow here...

Have a beautiful day!

Gorgeous, gorgeous finish Melissa!

As for Spring, ha! My snowdrops are buried under 2 inches of snow today...I know that's nothing compared to some parts, but I'm so over Winter right now ;)

I've been stalking every shop website I can think of, looking for Nashville previews LOL! At the minute, I'm hooked on PSS The Queen's Crowns and will probably get the new BBD book, if I can get a peek at all the designs first. Can't wait for all the market reports next week.

Lennu said...

Oh cherry trees... We had -30C (-22F) this morning! I must admit I'm soon getting tired of this freeze! Snow is great, sunshine is great, but these temperatures... :)

Your finish is so beautiful! Oh I would have loved to see those flowers in the colours of the Olympic Rings, LOL.

Loving your Birds of a Feather! Such a nice piece and I love the SAL piece you've picked to do with Jane. I'll be looking forward to watching your progress on that. I am anxiously awaiting Market reports too. Cherry tree blossom?!?!?! My goodness, that is a sign of Spring!

Carol said...

So, so pretty, Melissa--I just love this one!

Cherry tree blossoms--oh, I'm so jealous. We are still buried under 40" of snow here...

Brigitte said...

Oh, oh, oh, so gorgeous!!! What a wonderful piece this is. I feel the urge to start on one of my BBDs waiting in the pipeline ...
I haven't looked a lot at the new Nashville designs but there's one thing which will be a must for me - Autumn at HRH. Can't do without them, lol. Other than that I have to stay a bit on the wagon as I have discovered some gorgeous samplers when leafing through some of my older magazines yesterday. But of course I will buy some stash in my birth month just to show my mom how I spend her birthday money, lol.

Jane said...

Love it, Melissa!!! It will look wonderful framed and up on one of your sampler walls - I can picture it now. Congratulations!

Looking forward to our SAL. What fun it's going to be.

Have fun with your SAL with Jane. She is very motivating! I was thrilled to do a SAL with her.

Your Birds are quite stunning in their colors! Yummy silk--they shine through the screen. Yep, my LNS owner is off to Nashville, but I've given her a short list. The BBD book and just a few others. I'm trying to be reasonable and space out my purchases this time.

Rowyn said...

Congrats on your beautiful finish!

I have seen a few charts I want from the Nashville releases, the three I especially like are from Plum Street Samplers.

Beautiful finish!

I have seen a few charts that I would love to have already and have added them to my next shopping list. I hope I don't like too many more designs.

Yes I know what you mean about the 'waiting room' syndrome LOL! Its always the same isn't it, like you I am tempted with the BBD book, and I can't wait to see what else there is out there.

Siobhan said...
