Happy News...

...for Theresa who won the Blogoversary Giveaway! I told Theresa I was amazed when her name came up because she seemed to have won a few of these (or at least one other) giveaways lately! Theresa, go get a Lotto ticket, you never know!

First year giveaway - Quaker Calendars by Plum Street Sampler

Thank you to everyone for entering the giveaway because it gave me a chance to read about your favourite stitch. It seems to be that most people's favourites are the ones they have made for a loved one.

Since my last post, I have put away my Windmill Sampler and have been searching for next projects to do. I will have to order some floss this week! Thank you to Barbara for pointing out something about the colour "Old Brick":

"I've seen that GAST "Old Brick" turn up in some REALLY different shades/colors. I had one skein I loved, that really did look like old faded out brick, but everything I've had since is either too pink or too brown."

Well, at least it was good to know it wasn't my imagination! But it's frustrating when you see such variations in the dye lots!

On Friday afternoon I received Sarah Woodham from Shakespeares Peddler. Here's a photo of it. I just love this design.

Isn't she pretty? I just love her. I probably won't stitch her for awhile yet. Looking at that all over one stitching, I know I will need a time when I am not so busy with work. But I can still just look and admire her!

As usual, thank you for stopping by. I hope I will have some stitching to show you next time. Thank you for your kind regard, as always.
Have a wonderful week. I am sending you "Rosy" thoughts!

Ooh, pretty roses. Pretty Shakespeare's Peddlar sampler too!

I have the same Old Brick problem with Avocado, which either looks like a lovely fresh green or like poisonous snot. I usually end up with the latter variety. Go, as they say, figure.

Yeah for Theresa! I hate how some of the dye lots are so different - I expect some variation but often it's like it's a whole new color. Makes it hard when you don't buy enough right off the bat.

Love your new sampler - it'll be a lot of fun to watch you stitch it.

Have a great day!

Another reproduction sampler I see. I think you're hooked on these, Melissa! It does look lovely though, but such a lot of work in it. I can understand you'll want to do it when you have a bit of time on your hands. I'm the same with the bigger pieces I have in my stash. Just enjoy looking at it for now. :)

Don't you hate that about hand dyed threads? Each dye lot can differ by so much. I know it's not an exact science, but you'd think the colour wouldn't alter too greatly - a cup of this, a spoonful of that. Surely they have a recepie to go by? :))))

Theresa, congrats on your win too. What a lovely prize.

Congrats to Theresa! And Sarah Woodham -- oh yes, she's making her way to me as well. I'm waiting impatiently. Although I totally agree with you on the over one stitching in the middle. Ugh! lol! I always love your roses. Those two color ones are spectacular!

Congrats to Teresa. And I hear you on the variations with those threads. I'm organizing mine right now (a good thing because I'm discovering three and four of the same color), and I'm amazed at the differences in some of them. They could be a completely different color. Definitely makes me want to be sure I buy enough for each project.

Melissa, I can't wait to see what you project you choose next - hopefully something that you will find relaxing and enjoyable.

I just love Sarah - I have her on order as well - can't wait to receive it.

Congratulations to Theresa on winning your very generous giveaway.

Enjoy your week.

Congratulations Theresa!
Love that Sarah Woodham sampler, but it is one that I will stitch vicariously through you and others. :) Looking forward to seeing what you decide to stitch next. :)

Another colour of GAST to watch out for is Thyme. It can be green or brown depending on the dye lot. Most frustrating.
